How to Setup PureVPN on Arch Linux (PPTP)

Arch Linux is a breath of fresh air for Linux users. It is based mostly on the open-source platform with a high percentage of Linux community involvement.

You can now protect your activities on your Arch Linux OS with PureVPN. Here’s how you can setup PureVPN on Arch Linux (PPTP)

Things to Consider:

  1. You have a working internet connection
  2. Arch Linux Supported Device.
  3. A Premium PureVPN account (If you haven’t bought yet click 👉here to buy)
Find your VPN credentials for manual configuration.

To find your VPN credentials log into the PureVPN members area. Click 👉 here to visit member area.

  • Login to the Member area using your PureVPN registered email address and password.
  • From manage account section, go to the Subscriptions tab.
  • On Subscription tab scroll down to be able to view your VPN credentials
  • You will be able to see and copy your VPN credentials.
  • Note down your PureVPN username and click the Eye icon to make your password visible and use it in the manual configuration.
How to connect PureVPN manually on Arch Linux.
  • Start by accessing the Network Manager, as shown in the picture below. After accessing Network Manager, select Network Settings.

  • To add a new profile, select +

  • Select VPN.

  • Select PPTP (Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol)

  • Enter the following information:
  • Name: PureVPN
  • Insert your desired server address in VPN Server. (Please refer to the server addresses shared in the note above).
    1. Germany: de1.pointtoserver.com
    2. Netherlands: nl1.pointtoserver.com
    3. United Kingdom: ukl1.pointtoserver.com
    4. United States: usil1.pointtoserver.com
    5. United States: ustx1.pointtoserver.com
    6. United States: usca1.pointtoserver.com
    7. United States: usfl1.pointtoserver.com
    8. United States: usny1.pointtoserver.com
    9. United States: uswdc1.pointtoserver.com
    10. Australia: au-sd1.pointtoserver.com
  • Enter your PureVPN credentials. Here is how you can 👉find your VPN credentials.
  • Click Advanced
Name: PureVPN Insert the desired server: Please refer to the server address shared in the above note. Enter PureVPN Username and Password Click on Advanced
  • Select the following options:
    1. Check Point-to-Point Encryption (MPPE)
    2. Check all default boxes, that is if they are unchecked in the first place
    3. Enable BSD data compression
    4. Enable deflate data compression
    5. Enable TCP header compression
    6. Under Echo, uncheck Send PPP Echo Packet
    7. Select Ok
  • Select your newly created PureVPN connection, and use the ON/OFF button to connect and disconnect

  • You are now successfully connected to PureVPN!
