Why PureVPN Introduced Different Modes?

Rather than users having to figure things out on their own, we have created different modes for you to choose from.

How Can They Help?

Depending on what you wish to do, you can choose a specific mode to enhance the overall experience. For instance, if you wish to watch videos online, you will need to select the ‘Stream’ mode for a smooth and seamless experience.

That being said, here is an elaborate illustration as to how each mode works, and what settings are set in place to make it possible:

It is important to keep in mind that the default settings set in place are there to meet each mode’s requirements, and in order for it to function effectively. Manually changing protocols, enabling/disabling features like Encryption will result in varied results, which may not necessarily fulfill what you are trying to achieve in the first place.

    Just did update.
Now “search for location” screen shows no locations. Shows no countries.
PureVPN is not providing any protection.

  2. Roman says:

Almost never works, all the time some problems. Tech support almost never knows how to solve problems.

I’ve moved countries for the next few months (Fiji). In the last 2 days I have been unable to connect to Pure VPN.
On Pure VPN I am on dedicated ip mode with dedicated host name bbctv.pointtoserver.com.
I have sent virtually the same email 6 weeks ago and received a standardised response which referred me to the various modes. Eventually the problem sorted itself out and all was OK for 6 weeks. I have tried changing from Dedicated ip to Internet Freedom – didn’t help – then back again.
I’m on a metered service here and am aware that with restricted bandwidth, everything operates slowly. The service here at the moment is mostly 2g with occasional 3g, which in past years has been good enough to download the TV progs I want.. All other internet and email usage through Vodafone Fiji is working at an acceptable speed. Nevertheless, I should be able to connect to the VPN at 4am for example.
    Any other suggestions please?

It’s all confusing… I’m new to vpn. and there is a lot of choice of country and connection, how could I know what is the best, When I was looking to a service vpn I saw one of your competitor Express VPN that said they rate the speed of the connection or you could test the speed, on your I see country but noting that tell me which one is better. How could I select the best connection?

Thanks for reaching out. You can have a look at above comparison chart, it should answer all your queries..
Moreover, Internet freedom mode is preferred when you want to do ‘Browsing’ and when you are looking for higher level of security over internet then ‘Security/Privacy’ mode is a good choice.

Hope this answers your query, feel free to comment if you still have any questions!

  7. A. Luca B says:

can you elaborate some technical details about the difference between Internet freedom and Security/Privacy. Or better if there is an article some where.

  8. PureVPN Team says:

Thanks for reaching out. If your purpose is only to do browsing that you should opt for ‘Internet Freedom’ mode and if you are looking for more online security that ‘Security/Privacy’ mode is the way to go.

Hope this answers your query, let us know if you still have any questions!

  9. Timboldt says:

What is the difference between Internet Freedom mode and Security/Privacy mode and which one is better when operating PureVPN on a cell phone? I asked this via Live Chat and was not given enough information to make an informed choice.

  11. Jokuc says:

What mode would be the best to use if I’m looking for protection against DDoS attacks while gaming?

  12. mchan1 says:

Good to see a ‘File sharing’ mode.
Guess that’s for people who does Torrenting? :X

Streaming mode for people who have Online subscription services like those on Netflix or Amazon?

    Internet mode… basic security mode?
Security mode… More Severe/better Encrypted mode than
    ‘basic’ Internet mode?

    Still a little confusing.

    • PureVPN Team says:

Thanks for reaching out. You described all modes perfectly, I guess you are wandering if Security mode offers more encryption then other Modes if that is the case then ‘Yes’ you are right.

Hope it answers you query, feel free to reach out if you still have any confusion.

  13. PureVPN Team says:

Thanks for reaching out to us. Yes, you are secure using any of these modes, but there are a few other technical things that are required to get the best connection for a particular need/mode like servers, protocols, encryption level, route, and a few more. This is the reason why we have developed these modes so people can get the best combination of settings for their particular needs without any hassle.

Hope this answers your query, if you still have any question or confusion, feel free to contact us!

What is the purpose of different modes if you’re just as secure using any of them?
