You can get apps2fire and send the app to your “TV box” from your phone, then install it from ES file explorer. you can do the same with any apk and any app in the google play store. it’s very easy. took me less than 5 minutes from the moment I heard of apps2fire until the time I had pureVPN working. on my other devices I had to set up open vpn manually to get everything to work.

      [PHONE Galaxy s6]
About my android, If you read my post properly, you will know I already contacted your support and we found out that it had to be a OpenVPN problem from my ISP. The strange thing though is AFTER I logged on with my 4G network, I was able to log in normally through my wireless ISP. I understood as if my ISP had blocked OpenVPN, why was I able to log in normally AFTER I logged in on 4G. It feels like I had to activate it on 4G first. But I can not stream through apps, nor in 4G or wireless, even I have a 50mb connection, always says there is no connection. The apps is geoblocked, thats why I use VPN, The IP is ok, login successful and I do navigate normal, but when the stream starts, it says “No Connection”. So the androidpart on my phone is somehow partly working.

      [Lenovo Tablet]
The android APP on my tablet is not working becoz I only have wireless on it, so I cant use a different connection to “activate” it first. I have configured it manually, but the same thing happens. Ip ok, log in successful, but stream times out. I ran a speedtest on both the connections and the location is fine so is ping/speed very good.

      Cheers

    • Tomtom Vadafk says:

      Update:
The stream issues seems to be the official tv-app not approving the connection with VPN. Today I tested with a different network app and the stream was ok for that network. So for sure the other two apps have some security-stuff that wont allow pureVPN to connect to them.

Solution was: making my Phone as a wireless accesspoint to my laptop/desktop > connect it trough my phone > Open the new Client, voila!!!

Now the new client works on all my android devices and PCs. If you guys here for PureVPN wants to take a look at the major networks with connection problems, tell me and Ill send you the info. Should be candy for your tec. dep. 🙂

  17. Tomtom Vadafk says:

I have had a weird problem for some days. I downloaded the apk on my androis phone and tab, but I never got it to work. There is the login screen and when I click sign in it just loops, nothing happens. So I talked to support, and we figured out that my ISP prolly dident support OpenVPN. Then I swiched my connection on the phone from Wifi to 4G, opened app, logged in successfully. The strangest thing is that I now can log in trough my Wifi too on my phone, I get connected, but as soon as I try to stream some tv-stuff, I get the message that I am offline. I dont understand what is really the problem. My tab does not have a chip (phone network) on it, so I dont get logged in. 🙁 As for my computers I run Win 10 x64 and the NEW client dont work at all, stuck on loginscreen. I have been using the OLD windows client and that works perfect. They told me in support that “The new client uses OpenVPN, but the old does not” So maybe thats the reason for I only can use the old windows client. So anyone here experiencing the same as me, maybe have a solution for my problem?

  18. Andrea says:

i wonder if i am the only one who can’t use the purevpn app for watching netflix on my smartphone. but – there was a good solution: i followed above guide (Setup L2TP Manually on Android.) and for me it worked out – suddenly netflix usa isn’t bitching around anymore and i can watch my serials.
but it would have been much easier, if the app would have worked in the first place without doing any manual setups… but well – it works (so far) and i am satisfied (so far) 🙂

  22. Jay says:

    Hi PureVPN team,

    Congrats on a great product!

So far, I’ve been satisfied with PureVPN on my PC which works well in China where I’ve used it for a few days now.

However, there are a few glitches that I’d like to address:

the PureVPN apk which I have installed on my android box from where I can access xbmc content, is not as user friendly as one could wish for, especially when you’re in China.

For example, navigating the apk GUI is fairly cumbersome as, apparently, it is presumed users are on a PC with a mouse to access functions via a cursor, which most remote controls do not have. It would be extremely helpful if your techguys could update the apk GUI so functions can be accessed without having to use a cursor, which is quite bothersome to use via a remote control

Also, connecting to overseas servers, is difficult in China where authorities seem to despise OpenVPN, so it should be easier to access preferences in order to change settings. Perhaps you could make an ‘if in China’ automated logon? Attempting logon with default settings only yields the dreaded ‘seems like your ISP has blocked OpenVPN ports or this server is not responding at this time…’ prompt.

It should be mentioned also that there are only three servers accessible – and no UK server, which limits access to geo-resticted content, surely this could be improved.

In addition, downloading the apk is a chore! Why? Having to pass through Google Play is tedious at best, and endlessly annoying when you are in China. There should be a direct DL link (for signed up users, lest the link gets squashed by TGFW.

Hope you find my input useful and look forward to your qualified advice.

    Cheers

    • pawpawdog says:

Forgot to mention, you may also want to consider to make the Android apk available to download directly from your web site in addition to Google Play. Not everyone like to login to Google all the time and most of the Android devices sold in China or imported from China does not have Google Play installed. It is a hassle one has to find way to install Google Play first in order to install your app.

  25. pawpawdog says:

You need an app for the Android TV boxes, not just the phones.
