How to set PPTP on Linksys Smart WiFi

Here’s how to use on your Linksys Smart WiFi router with PureVPN.

1 To start set up VPN on Linksys router you first have to connect to it. For that you have to put in your browser the following address: (If this doesn’t work, please consult your router’s manual to find what is the Default Gateway Address). Also you have to set your network connection to obtain IP address automatically if you connect to your router via Ethernet.

2 Select “Connectivity” from “Router Settings”.

3 Select Internet Settings then click  Edit near Type of Internet Connection.

4 Choose PPTP from Connection Type drop-down menu.

5 Now enter the following information.

• Check the “Obtain an IPv4 address automatically (DHCP)” checkbox.
• Enter the IP address of the VPN server you want to connect to in the “Server IPv4 Address” field. Please check this link on how to convert server address into IP address.
• Enter your PureVPN username and password. (Make sure you use your VPN username purevpn0sxxx and password and NOT the website account credentials).
• MTU: Auto
Click Apply. You may have to wait while the settings are adjusted.

6 Choose Local Network option. Enter the Google DNS or other Open DNS addresses in Static DNS 1 and Static DNS 2 fields respectively.

7 Click Apply.

8 PureVPN is successfully connected now on your Linksys SmartWifi router.
