I can POSITIVELY confirm it DOES work on Windows 10 64Bit OS! Go to PureVPN site and download the latest software! It is EXACTLY the same version number you’ll be downloading apparently PureVPN updated their software but forgot to change version number that’s why hitting “update” in PureVPN software shows you’re already running the latest version. That’s NOT true! Download the NEW PureVPN software and install! You’ll see that option for creating a VPN hotspot is available! Again if you check before and after the install the version number of software will be the same, but it’s CLEARLY an updated software. This article asks you to install old version for Windows. Install the NEW version for your Windows 10!!! Make sure your PC is attached via Ethernet to your router for this to work!!!

Hi! I’m trying to connect to the Virtual Router, using the procedure above.
I am able to setup the virtual router and the PureVPN Wifi network starts, and I can see it from a mobile device and I can connect to it successfully, and I do see the mobile device as connected to the Virtual Router from within the app.

You can make it works in Windows 10 by doing this.
    1. Connect to VPN using pureVPN software then disconnect it. This has to be done to get a server URL from pureVPN software.
    2. Contect to vpn using Windows-provided mechanism by go to Start>setting>Network & Internet > Tap VPN on the left pane then look at the right > Press Connect at the PureVPN connection
    3. It will ask for username and password, type the username and password you have typed in pureVPN.
4.It will connected to Internet, you can verify it from Microsoft Edge.
    5. Enable virtual wireless adapter by open ‘cmd’ by right-click and Start Icon and click Command Prompt (admin)
6.In cmd, type netsh wlan set hostednetwork ssid=YourDesiredWirelessName key=YourDesiredPassword
7.In cmd, type netsh wlan start hostednetwork .The hostednetwork will start , you can verify this by looking and your WIFI list , there will be ‘YourDesiredWirelessName’ in the list.
    8. Open Network and Sharing center > then click at change adapter setting (located at the left pane) > then right click pureVPN and seletec ‘properties’
9 The Properties tab will open , then click the ‘Sharing’ tab and check ‘Allow other network ……’ and selected your hostednetwork name (usually name as “Local area network”)
    10. Done. Try to test it using your other wifi-capabled devices by query google “What is my ip” and compare to host computer.

    • Ben says:

I tried your workaround completly, but the hotedconnection doesn’t get an external ip, so the connection get ip as 192.xxx.xxx.xxx.

It look like your network driver does not support hostednetwork. You can verify by open command prompt and type
      netsh wlan show driver
and look for hosted network support

    Hello,
I use this Wifi router function on W7.

It works well when I connect with a W8 computer to the Wifi network created by the PureVPN old software.
