How To Setup PureVPN Windows App

Want to secure your Windows device completely? Check out the simplest way to install PureVPN app on your device to experience complete internet freedom, security & entertainment at the same time.

Things to consider: You will need a Windows device running and an active PureVPN subscription. If you don’t have the subscription yet, you can get it from here.

Download PureVPN app

Let’s get started with the most basic of all steps. Get to know how you can download and install our PureVPN App on your Windows PC or laptop.

Install PureVPN App
  • Select the downloaded file and click Yes to make changes with the app installation.
  • PureVPN is ready to install, click I Agree to continue.

  • Your installation will begin.

  • Your installation is now complete and you may continue to login and connect to PureVPN.
Login PureVPN App

Once your installation is successful. Here’s how you can proceed to login PureVPN App.

  • Launch PureVPN App.

Note: Your login details are your email address and the password you set up during the purchase process.

Connect via Recommended Server/ Location

What is Recommended Country/ Server selection?

The recommended server will automatically connect you to a country/ server recommended by our smart algorithm (based on geographical distance). Here’s how you can proceed to connect with recommended server.

  • Click the connect icon at the center.

Sort countries by alphabetically, popularity, or ping

Tired of scrolling up and down to search for a location? Here’s a simplified way to sort them.

  • Click the globe icon at the left panel of the PureVPN App.
  • To sort locations alphabetically, ping, or popularity, click the sorting icon from the top. You will now see the options to sort by alphabetically, ping, or popularity.
  • To sort countries alphabetically, click Sort by Alphabet.
  • Countries are now sorted in alphabetical order.
  • To sort countries by popularity click Sort by Popularity.
  • Countries are now sorted by popularity.
  • To sort countries by ping, click Sort by Ping.

Connect via country

Looking to connect with your desired location? Here’s how to proceed.

  • Click globe icon at the left panel of PureVPN App.
  • Select your desired location from the list.
  • You are now connected to the PureVPN App.
Connect via city on PureVPN App

With this feature you can explore different regions of a location offered within PureVPN App. Here’s how you can proceed to connect.

  • Open PureVPN App.
  • Click globe icon at the left panel of PureVPN App.
  • Click the arrow icon provided besides locations and a list of cities will be displayed.
  • Click your desired city to connect or type your desired city in the search box.
  • You are now connected to the PureVPN App with your desired city.
Change Protocol in PureVPN App

Not satisfied with your current protocol selection? Now you have multiple security protocols to connect with. Here’s how to proceed.

  • Click settings icon from the left panel of PureVPN App.
  • Select Protocol tab.
  • Toggle to change your protocol selection, then click Proceed.
  • Select the protocol of your choice from the drop-down menu.

For users looking to use Wireguard:

Wireguard the fastest VPN protocol is now available in Windows application. When you choose Wireguard as protocol you will get a pop-pup that Wireguard is currently supported on limited features. Click Got it to continue

  • Upon selection, your protocol will be successfully changed.

Connect to Fallback: This option will connect you to the next best available option if you are unable to connect with your preferred protocol.

  • Now, click the home button on the left panel and connect to PureVPN.
  • After connecting successfully, you can check your selected protocol under Connection Details.
Activate Split Tunneling

With PureVPN’s split tunneling feature, users can choose which traffic to send via the VPN tunnel and which traffic to send via their ISP. Follow these simple steps to activate split tunneling on the PureVPN App.

When your VPN is connected, all your DNS queries, even from applications which are marked to not use VPN, will always be routed via VPN network to prevent any DNS leaks. Here’s how you can proceed to activate it.

  • Click settings icon.
  • Click Split Tunneling tab.
  • Toggle Split Tunneling to enable it.
  • Upon clicking the + icon, the list of default applications will appear. Alternatively, you can use the Browse option to select any installed application of your choice.
  • Click Browse and add your desired program to enable it with Split Tunneling. An application might have multiple processes running. To make sure all the data from that application is routed via VPN, please make sure to add all the processes in Split Tunneling.
  • Connect PureVPN app.
  • Open your internet browser (Ex: Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome). The selected browser will run under VPN.
Connect with Dedicated IP

A dedicated IP VPN is significantly important while you work from home. This is because it enables you to gain secure remote access to a specific network from anywhere. Here is how you can configure a Dedicated IP.

  • Click globe icon at the left panel of PureVPN App.
  • Click the Dedicated IP option to connect.
  • You are now connected successfully with your Dedicated IP Add-on.
  • In case you’re already connected to your dedicated IP on another device, you’ll be prompted accordingly to continue as per choice.

Note: If you click Yes then the previous device that was already connected with your dedicated IP address will disconnect and it will connect on your current Windows device. If you click No then it will remain connected to your previous device.

Connect DDOS IP on Windows
  • Launch PureVPN App.
  • Enter your PureVPN credentials and click Login.
  • Click globe icon at the left panel of PureVPN App.
  • You’ll see your DDOS IP on the top left corner of your screen. Click the DDOS IP to connect.
  • You are now connected successfully with your DDOS IP.

Note: If you click Yes then the previous device that was already connected with your DDOS IP address will disconnect and it will connect on your current Windows device. If you click No then it will remain connected to your previous device.

Auto-connect after launch on PureVPN App

With this feature, you now have the security on the go whenever you wish to use public wifi spots or in general a network that you don’t trust. Here’s how you can proceed.

  • Click settings icon from the left panel of the PureVPN App.
  • Select General tab.
  • Toggle Launch on system start & Auto-connect after launch to turn it on.
  • Once you’ve enabled the two options, you can select your desired selection from the drop-down list.

Note: This won’t be applicable if your system is in sleep mode.

Check the upload/ download speed after connecting PureVPN App

Here’s how you can check your VPN connectivity by referring to the instructions below.

  • Connect to PureVPN using the Recommended server location or connect to a location of your choice.
  • Once you have connected to PureVPN you will be able to view your upload/ download speed at the bottom of the screen.
Clear preference on PureVPN App

With this option you can now revert PureVPN App to its default settings.

  • Click settings icon from the left panel of the PureVPN App.
  • Select General tab.
  • Click Clear my Preference to proceed.
  • Once preferences are cleared, PureVPN App will revert to default settings.
Enable Internet Kill Switch (IKS) on PureVPN App

The Internet Kill Switch functionality ensures your original IP address is never revealed in the event of a VPN connection drop. Here’s how you can proceed to activate it.

  • Click settings icon from the left panel of the PureVPN App.
  • Select General tab.
  • Toggle Enable IKS to turn it on.
  • Once IKS is activated, it will disconnect you from the internet if the VPN connection unexpectedly drops.
Enable/ disable Auto update

Keep your PureVPN App up to date by letting PureVPN App do it automatically for you.

  • Click settings icon from the left panel of the PureVPN App.
  • Select General tab and scroll down below.
  • Toggle Auto-update to turn it On or Off.
Change language

Not native to English language? You can now change it to a different language to understand the flow of PureVPN App.

  • Click settings icon from the left panel of the PureVPN App.
  • Click Select Application language. 
  • Select your desired language from the drop-down menu.
  • Upon selection of your desired language, a popup will appear to relaunch the app to apply changes. Click Yes to proceed.
Enable/ Disable notifications on PureVPN App

You can customize whether you wish to remain notified from PureVPN App or not. Here’s how you can apply its settings.

  • Click Settings icon from the left panel of PureVPN App.
  • Select General tab.
  • Toggle Show Notifications to turn them On or Off.
Rate your session on PureVPN App

Now you can express your experience by rating us directly on PureVPN App. Here’s how you can proceed.

  • Connect using the Recommended server option or a desired location of your choice.
  • Upon successful connection, you’ll see thumbs up and thumbs down icons to rate your session.
  • When you give a Thumbs up, you will see the following screen.
  • When you give Thumbs down, you’ll be asked to choose a category and leave comments. As soon as you fill it, a support ticket will be open.
Join Live Chat via PureVPN App

  • Open PureVPN app.
  • Click contact icon from the left panel of PureVPN App.
  • Click Live Chat tab.

Update PureVPN App

Want to update the PureVPN Windows App but not sure how? Here is the easy-to-follow guide for you.

  • Click settings icon from the left panel of PureVPN App.
  • Scroll down and Click the Check for Updates button.
  • If a new version is available you will receive a popup to install the update. Else, you already have the latest version installed.
Disconnect PureVPN App

Our disconnect option is just as easy to connect. Here’s how you can learn to disconnect it.

  • Hover your cursor to the connected icon and it would highlight in red prompting to disconnect.
  • Upon clicking the icon, you are now disconnected.
Logout PureVPN Windows App

Here’s how to logout of PureVPN App easily.

  • Click user icon from the left panel of PureVPN App.
  • Click Logout.
  • You have successfully logged out of the PureVPN App.
