How to Use Split Tunneling in PureVPN Windows App

PureVPN offers users the ability to choose which traffic they want to send through the VPN, and which they want to send through their ISP. Just follow these simple steps to use Split Tunneling on PureVPN’s Windows client.

  • Right click the PureVPN icon on your desktop and select “Run as administrator”.

  • Click the “Settings” icon in the top right corner.

  • Click “Beta Features”.

  • Toggle the switch ON.

  • Click “Split Tunneling”.

  • Toggle the switch to activate Split Tunneling.

  • Select the “Only allow listed apps to use the VPN” option.

  • Click “Add” and choose the apps that you wish to run with PureVPN.

  • If you want to remove an app, just select the “Remove” option.

  • Pick the apps that you wish to remove.

  • You can allow or disallow specific apps from using the VPN with the options highlighted below.

When your VPN is connected, all your DNS queries, even from applications which are marked to not use VPN, will always be routed via VPN network to prevent any DNS leaks.

  • Launch PureVPN application.

  • Click on the settings icon.

  • Click on the split tunneling option.

  • Toggle on the split tunneling.

  • Upon clicking the “+” sign, the list of default applications will appear. You can also use the browse option to select any installed application of your choice as shown below.

  • Click “Browse” and add your desired program to enable it with Split Tunneling. An application might have multiple processes running. To make sure all the data from that application is routed via VPN, please make sure to add all the processes in Split Tunneling applications.

  • Connect PureVPN App.

  • Open your internet browser (Ex: Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome) and check split tunneling.
