How to Give Your VPN Speed a Turbo Boost?

Not being able to access content is a pain and a slow connection increases it. However, with the help of PureVPN you can get rid of these pains once and for all. The speed of your VPN connection depends on many factors, including the bandwidth, distance to and from the server, etc. and these factors are well-beyond the reach of any VPN provider.

Why does the speed drop?

A VPN connection is generally slow because of all the added security, protocols and encryption carried out on end-to-end basis. This is done for the security of your data.

How can you improve speed?

If you are experiencing speed slower than usual, then you can take some steps to improve the situation.

Troubleshooting

Before we jump into the troubleshooting, we would suggest you to once try run a speed test on your device to find the variance between the speed of without VPN connection and with VPN connection. Click πŸ‘‰ here to find out how to conduct speedtest properly.

To fix the Speed issue there are multiple steps that you can try lets discuss them one by one.

Connect to Recommended Server location

The first thing you can try is to connect to recommended server location. As PureVPN app automatically selects the best available Location that will give you good connection experience through the recommended server feature.

How do you do it?

Choose a Different VPN Protocol

    FEEDBACK:
I asked purevpn to do remote assistance for a while, finally today it was done through teamviewer and it worked wonderfully, problem solved in less than 5 minutes, I hope it becomes the normal way. I have been assisted by Orton, first time somebody accepted to remotely connect to my computer. It made a massive difference to me and it saves your time as well. Today’s session with Orton has been probably the best ever. I do a lot of business online, not being able to connect through VPN can really cost me. Please offer remote assistance a normal option

Hey, I’ve been having problems with PureVPN and I keep getting the same error over and over again. I’ve tried changing protocols and server locations and nothing changed. I live in China where I desperately need a VPN to do pretty much everything and I’m unable to. Please help!

  7. bluntdragon says:

Can you please add a “Torrenting” purpose to the PureVPN app. I don’t care what server I connect to, I just want to connect to the fastest one for torrenting purposes. It’s literally the only reason I use a VPN and I’m sure the same goes for many others as well.

I paid for a year upfront to use PureVPN for torrenting, then you guys came out and changed what servers allow torrenting, so it’s become an issue for me. I’d appreciate something like what I described being implemented, thanks.

edit: Oh wow, you guys already did this! Thanks!

I live in China and my internet speed was close to 30Mbps but I could only get horrible 2.9Mbps download speed when connected to a Singapore VPN server. I have tried other closest VPN servers in Australia and Malaysia and the fastest at best that I could get was only 13-14Mbps. I have already tried open DNS but to no avail. Any suggestions to make my connection faster to at least be close to maximize my existing internet speed. Please kindly provide a fast server in Singapore. Is there an address that I could use to find the fastest servers in Singapore?

  10. Jordan Garzon says:

    Hi there,

The Internet speed test is over 10 mbps, however when I’m using a torrent client the speed with PureVPN is always lower than 5 mbps. Some ideas how to improve the speed?

How to solve this problem? Support guy keeps giving me the same crappy answer like uninstall the beta version and use the old one. If i wanna use the one then why would i ask for support? Why do u release the new version and ask me to use the old version? It doesn’t make any sense.

    • PureVPN Team says:

  15. Mattia says:

I am experiencing a problem with the connection. I use the VPN to watch
italian sports. When I perform a speed test both PPTP and L2TP they have
increased speed when the VPN connection is on and I really see on the
PureVPN window that the Mbs are increasing when performing the test. As
soon as test stops the Mbs drop suddenly. I am experiencing the same
problem with both a Windows laptop and an Ipad.
    Thank you for your help.

Hi, I am using VPN to stream my home TV provider (GO Malta) while abroad at work via their web remote service. The VPN connection to Malta has a download speed of 1,35 Mbps while with PureVPN switched off the speed is 13.85 Mbps. This is totally avoiding any streaming. Is there any idea, plan or suggestion from PureVPN to increase download speed from Malta?

  27. Star Class says:

Hi, I am working abroad and the main use of VPN is now to access the remote services of my TV service in Malta (GO). Selecting VPN in Malta the remote service is very slow and do not stream at all (tvanywhere.go.com.mt). Tested speed, 13,82 Mbps with no VPN, 1,35 Mbps with VPN Malta. Is there anything PureVPN can suggest me to be able to see my remote TV account?

  28. Kash says:

Hi, I just bought the service and am in Australia, bought the service because it said it had an Australian server. But I can’t find one when connecting. Closest is Malaysia and it’s about 8mb slower than my connection speed without using a VPN. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?
