How to Setup PureVPN Manually on Windows 10

PureVPN provides a sleek and user-friendly app to make setting up a VPN connection on your PC a breeze. However, there’s also a manual approach to setting up your VPN connection if you’d rather not use the application.

In this guide, we’ll show you how to configure PureVPN manually on your Windows laptop or computer using Window’s built-in VPN client.

Things to Consider:

Before you begin, please make sure that you have the following:

  • A working Internet connection
  • A device running Windows 10
  • A premium PureVPN account (If you don’t have one yet, click here to buy)

1 Right click on your Active LAN / WiFi icon and click on Network settings

2 Click on VPN then click on Add a VPN connection

3 Insert the following info:

  • Select Windows (built-in) from VPN Provider drop down menu
  • Type any desired Name as PureVPN DE, US etc as your Connection name
  • Insert the desired server address in the Server name or address box. Click here to get the list of servers
  • Select “Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP)” from VPN type drop down menu
  • Select “User name and password” from Type of sign-in info drop down menu

4 Insert the following info:

  • Insert your Username and Password provided by PureVPN.
  • Select “Remember my sign-in info and click on Save

5 Click on newly created VPN Connection “PureVPN DE”

6 Click on Connect

7 Wait for a few seconds.

8 You are connected to PureVPN Successfully. Enjoy the Pure FREEDOMMMM!!!!!

 

Note: Make sure to select “Required Encryption” in the “Data Encryption” dropdown menu from VPN Adapter.

1 Right click on your Active Lan / WiFi icon and click on Network settings

2 Click on VPN then click on Add a VPN connection

3 Insert the following info:

  • Select Windows (built-in) from VPN Provider drop down menu
  • Insert any desired Name as PureVPN DE, US etc as Connection name
  • Insert desired server address in Server name or address box. Click here to get the list of servers 
  • Select “Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol with IPsec (L2TP/IPsec)” from VPN type drop down menu
  • Select “User name and password” from Type of sign-in info drop down menu

4 Insert the following info:

  • Insert your Username and Password provided by PureVPN.
  • Select “Remember my sign-in info and click on Save

5 Click on “Change adapter options

6 Right click on newly created VPN connection “PureVPN DE” and select Properties

7 From “Security Tab”, click on Advanced settings

8 Select Use preshared key for authentication and insert 12345678 in Key box then click OK.

9 Select desired Encryption from Data encryption. For Streaming Purpose select None then click OK

10 Close this window

11 Click PureVPN DE and hit the Connect button.

12 Click on Connect

13 Wait for a few seconds.

14 You are connected to PureVPN Successfully. Enjoy the Pure FREEDOM!!!!!

1 Right click on your Active Lan / WiFi icon and click on Network settings

  • Select Windows (built-in) from VPN Provider drop down menu

  • Insert desired server address in Server name or address box. Click here to get the list of servers
  • Select “Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol (SSTP)” from VPN type drop down menu
  • Select “User name and password” from Type of sign-in info drop down menu

4 Insert the following info:

  • Insert your Username and Password provided by PureVPN.
  • Select “Remember my sign-in info and click on Save

5 Click PureVPN DE and hit the Connect button.

6 Click on Connect

7 Wait for a few seconds.

8 You are connected to PureVPN Successfully. Enjoy the Pure FREEDOMMMM!!!!!

1 Right click on your Active Lan / WiFi icon and click on Network settings

2 Click on VPN then click on Add a VPN connection

3 Insert the following info:

  •  Select Windows (built-in) from VPN Provider drop down menu
  • Insert any desired Name as PureVPN DE, US etc as Connection name
  • Insert desired server address in Server name or address box. Click here to get the list of servers 
  • Select “IKEv2” from VPN type drop down menu
  • Select “User name and password” from Type of sign-in info drop down menu

 

4 Insert the following info:

  • Insert your Username and Password provided by PureVPN.
  • Select “Remember my sign-in info and click on Save

5 Click PureVPN DE and hit the Connect button.

6 Click on Connect

7  Wait for a few seconds.

8 You are connected to PureVPN Successfully. Enjoy the Pure FREEDOMMMM!!!!!

Installing PureVPN:

1 Download PureVPN OpenVPN Installer from here and extract it on your desktop.

2 Download PureVPN OpenVPN files from here and extract it on your desktop.

3 Right click on OpenVPN installer and select properties.

4 From General Tab, check “Unblock”, “Apply” and “OK”

5 Right click on OpenVPN installer and select “Run as administrator”

6 Click “Yes” to allow installation

7 Click “Next”

8 Click “I agree”

9 Click “Next”

10 Click “Install” to begin installation

11 Check “Always trust software from “GZ Systems Limited” and click Install

12 Click “Next” once installation completes

13 Uncheck “Show Readme” and click on Finish

Connecting PureOVPN:

14 Right click on OpenVPN GUI icon and “Run as administrator”

15 Click “Yes” to allow application to run

16 Right click on OpenVPN icon from System tray, go to desired server and select “Connect”

17 Insert Username and Password provided by PureVPN then click OK

18 You are connected now. Enjoy the Freedom!!!!!!!!!!!

19 To disconnect OpenVPN. Right click on OpenVPN Icon from System tray, go to connected server and select “Disconnect”

Saving account details:

20 Right click on OpenVPN Icon from system tray, go to desired server and select Edit Config

21 Add pass.txt after auth-user-pass parameter and save

22 Open Notepad, type your Username in first line and passwrod in second line then save it as pass on your desktop

23 Navigate to OpenVPN installation folder (C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config) and drag / copy pass file in config folder

24 Click “Continue” to copy file

25 Right click on OpenVPN icon from System tray, go to server and select “Connect”

26 It will connect VPN without asking credentials.

Note: Repeat Step 18 and 19 to edit all servers
Step18: Right click on OpenVPN Icon from system tray, go to desired server and select Edit Config
Step19: Add pass.txt after auth-user-pass parameter and save

    Hi, I can’t find an installer in the openvpn-install download listed above. All I see inside is a folder with OpenVPN_Config_Files

    Can you help
    It was working fine before but when I changed to a USB wireless adaptor it stopped working.

    Its ok I downloaded the old version again and it works

    I have a problem, I can’t configure my VPN on my WIndows laptop. I do all the steps detailed above but my password is refused. I checked several times and I still have the email you sent me with my password but it doesn’t work.

      Thanks for your reply. After upgrading to Windows 10 the app would show up in Task Manager but the window wouldn’t open. I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling and that worked.

    OpenVPN is too slow and I already tried adding these lined to the config file:

    sndbuf 0
    rcvbuf 0
    push “sndbuf 393216”
    push “rcvbuf 393216”

    But it’s still too slow.
