How to Setup PureVPN PPTP on Kubuntu

If you want to set up PureVPN on Kubuntu using the PPTP protocol, you can do so in a few steps by checking out the following guide:

Things to Consider:

  1. You have a working internet connection.
  2. Linux Kubuntu Supported Device.
  3. A Premium PureVPN account (If you haven’t bought yet click 👉here to buy).
Find your VPN credentials for manual configuration.

To find your VPN credentials log into the PureVPN member area. Click 👉 here to visit member area.

  • Login to the Member area using your PureVPN registered email address and password.
  • On subscriptions tab scroll down to be able to view your VPN credentials.
  • You will be able to see and copy your VPN credentials.
  • Note down your PureVPN username and click on Eye icon to make your password visible and use it in the manual configuration.
How to connect PureVPN manually on Linux Kubuntu.
  • Click Networks Icon and select the Configure Network selection option.
 Click on “Networks” Icon and select the “Configure Network selection” option.
  • Click the + icon to add a VPN connection.
Click on the ‘+’ icon to add a VPN connection.
Select the "PPTP"
  • Now Enter the following details:
  • Insert your desired server address in VPN Server. (Please refer to the server addresses shared in the note above).
    1. Germany: de1.pointtoserver.com
    2. Netherlands: nl1.pointtoserver.com
    3. United Kingdom: ukl1.pointtoserver.com
    4. United States: usil1.pointtoserver.com
    5. United States: ustx1.pointtoserver.com
    6. United States: usca1.pointtoserver.com
    7. United States: usfl1.pointtoserver.com
    8. United States: usny1.pointtoserver.com
    9. United States: uswdc1.pointtoserver.com
    10. Australia: au-sd1.pointtoserver.com
  • Enter your PureVPN credentials. Here is how you can 👉find your VPN credentials.
  • Click Advanced.
Insert desired server address in “Gateway” (Here we use usca.pointtoserver.com) Click here for more server addresses. Insert Username provided by PureVPN Insert Password provided by PureVPN Click on “Advanced“
  • Select the following options:
    1. Enable Point-to-Point encryption (MPPE).
    2. Uncheck EAP.
    3. Uncheck CHAP.
    4. Uncheck PAP.
    5. Allow BSD data compression.
    6. Allow Deflate data compression.
    7. Use TCP header compression.
    8. Click OK.
Uncheck EAP Uncheck CHAP Uncheck PAP Allow BSD data compression Allow Deflate data compression Use TCP header compression Click “OK”
  • Click Save and then Apply button respectively.
Click “Save” and then “Apply” button respectively.
  • Now Click Networks Icon and select the newly created VPN connection, click Connect button to connect to PureVPN.
Now Click on “Networks“ Icon and select the newly created VPN connection, click on “Connect” button to connect to PureVPN.
  • You are successfully connected to VPN now!

  • Click the Disconnect option to disconnect/terminate the VPN connection.
