How to Setup PPTP on TP-Link Router

TP-Link is the most used wireless router in the world and is used to extend a WAN network to connect multiple devices. Setting up PureVPN on your TP-Link router manually is not a hefty task. We used the TP-Link TL-WR940N (c 3. 16.9 Build 150311 Rel.62186n) for this how-to. There are so many models of TP-Link routers, and so not all of them can be entertained namely Archer C7, AC1750, AC1200 etc. routers. However, this should give you a general idea of how the setup process will be.

Things to Consider:

  1. You have a working internet connection.
  2. VPN Supported Router.
  3. A Premium PureVPN account (If you haven’t bought yet click here to buy)
Find your VPN credentials for manual configuration.

To find your VPN credentials log into the PureVPN member area. Click 👉 here to visit member area.

  • Login to the Member area using your PureVPN registered email address and password.
  • On subscriptions tab scroll down to be able to view your VPN credentials.
  • You will be able to see and copy your VPN credentials.
  • Note down your PureVPN username and click on Eye icon to make your password visible and use it in the manual configuration.
How to setup PPTP on TP-Link router
  • Access your router control panel and click Network from the left panel and then click WAN.

  • In WAN Connection Type select PPTP/ Russia PPTP from drop-down menu.
  • Enter your PureVPN credentials. Here is how you can find your VPN credentials.
Type-in-VPN-Username-and-Password
  • Select Dynamic IP.
Select 'Dynamic IP' in TP Link Router
  • In Service IP Address field Insert your desired server address in VPN Server. (For server address, please refer to the list below.)
    1. Germany: de1.pointtoserver.com
    2. Netherlands: nl1.pointtoserver.com
    3. United Kingdom: ukl1.pointtoserver.com
    4. United States: usil1.pointtoserver.com
    5. United States: ustx1.pointtoserver.com
    6. United States: usca1.pointtoserver.com
    7. United States: usfl1.pointtoserver.com
    8. United States: usny1.pointtoserver.com
    9. United States: uswdc1.pointtoserver.com
    10. Australia: au-sd1.pointtoserver.com
Enter-Server-IP-in-TP-Link-Router
  • Click DHCP and then enter Primary and Secondary DNS.

  • Click Basic Security and enable:
    1. SPI Firewall
    2. PPTP Passthrough
    3. L2TP Passthrough
    4. IPsec Passthrough

  • Choose whether you would like to be reconnected manually, on demand or always.

  • When you have done the above, click Save.
click on "Save"

    i already try to disable SPI firewall still keep saying connecting.. please help

    Hi sorry but it didn`t help it`s the same.And there is a massive difference when i`m using the windows software purevpn and when is trough the router.Any other server close to uk with good speed?
