This article will guide you through the steps involved in setting up PureVPN PPTP on a Tomato firmware router. We have used a Linksys router flashed with the latest FreshTomato firmware to prepare this article:

1 Log in to the router control panel by entering the router’s default IP address to the address bar of your preferred browser. (If you changed your router’s default IP address, enter that into your browser instead). Enter the admin name and password for your router, then click Sign In. The default username for Tomato is root and password is admin.

2 In the left-hand menu, click on VPN Tunneling. Then click on PPTP Client.

3 Now Configure your PPTP client as shown below:

  • Start with WAN: check.
  • Server Address: (You can enter your desired server address here)
  • Enter PureVPN username, and PureVPN password
  • Encryption: Auto.
  • Stateless MPPE connection: check.
  • Accept DNS configuration: select Yes.
  • Redirect Internet traffic: check.
  • Create NAT on tunnel: check.
  • MTU: Default
  • MRU: Default
  • Click Save.

4 Click Start Now.

5 You are connected to VPN now!!!

6 If you want to disconnect your PPTP VPN connection, click on Stop Now in the PPTP Client Configuration window.
