How to Setup PureVPN PPTP on Linux Fedora

Setting up a VPN on your Linux Fedora has never been easier. Just follow the guide and learn how to set up PureVPN on Fedora via PPTP protocol.

Note: PPTP is longer supported on Fedora version 35 and above. The below instructions are valid for Fedora verion below 35.

Things to Consider:

  1. You have a working internet connection.
  2. Linux Fedora Supported Device.
  3. A Premium PureVPN account (If you havenโ€™t bought yet click ๐Ÿ‘‰here to buy).
Find your VPN credentials for manual configuration.

To find your VPN credentials log into the PureVPN member area. Click ๐Ÿ‘‰ here to visit member area.

  • Login to the Member area using your PureVPN registered email address and password.
  • On subscriptions tab scroll down to be able to view your VPN credentials.
  • You will be able to see and copy your VPN credentials.
  • Note down your PureVPN username and click on Eye icon to make your password visible and use it in the manual configuration.
Connect PureVPN manually on Linux Fedora.

To Configure PPTP on Fedora, kindly follow below steps:

  • Click the Settings icon in the upper side panel and then Wired Connected.

  • Now click Wired Settings.

  • Click + to add a new connection.
Click '+' to add a new connection
  • Click VPN in add Network Connection panel.
Click 'VPN' in add Network Connection panel
  • Then click Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP).

  • Do the following:
  • Enter Connection name: New Connection or as per your choice.
  • Insert the desired server: Please refer to the server address shared in the above note.
    1. Germany: de1.pointtoserver.com
    2. Netherlands: nl1.pointtoserver.com
    3. United Kingdom: ukl1.pointtoserver.com
    4. United States: usil1.pointtoserver.com
    5. United States: ustx1.pointtoserver.com
    6. United States: usca1.pointtoserver.com
    7. United States: usfl1.pointtoserver.com
    8. United States: usny1.pointtoserver.com
    9. United States: uswdc1.pointtoserver.com
    10. Australia: au-sd1.pointtoserver.com
  • Enter your PureVPN credentials. Here is how you can ๐Ÿ‘‰find your VPN credentials.
  • Click Advanced.
Add_Network_connection
  • Check mark the following options:
    1. MS CHAP and MSCHAPv2 only in Authentication methods.
    2. Use Point-to-Point encryption (MPPE).
    3. Allow BSD data compression.
    4. Allow Deflate data compression.
    5. Use TCP header compression.
  • Click OK.
PPTP Advanced Options
  • Click Add.
Add-Connection
  • Your New Connection can now be seen in the Network list.

  • Select New Connection and turn it ON.

  • Your dialer is now successfully connected.
