Dark web monitoring is a process that scans the dark web for your personal information or other specific details you're interested in. Think of it like a security guard keeping an eye out for anything suspicious in a hidden online alleyway.
What is the dark web?
It's an encrypted part of the internet not indexed by search engines. You need special software to access it, and it's often used for illegal or sensitive activities. Think of it as an underground marketplace where information can be bought and sold.
What does dark web monitoring do?
It continuously scans this dark web, searching for your personal information like email addresses, passwords, credit card numbers, or even Social Security numbers. If it finds anything, you'll get an alert so you can take action to protect yourself.
How to activate dark web monitoring?
- Tap Start Privacy Scan.
- Risks will be detected then Tap Start monitoring.
- Tap View breaches under the Dark web monitoring section.
- Take action to protect yourself and tap the mark as fixed once you protect yourself.
Note: When consumers are alerted to their data being compromised, they can take immediate action, such as changing passwords or securing accounts, reducing the risk of identity theft.
