China is known for having some of the strictest internet censorship laws in the world. The Chinese government uses The Great Firewall of China to restrict access to information and monitor the internet traffic of its citizens.

In this tutorial, you will learn how to set up PureVPN connection in China. This is an alternative way of connecting to PureVPN that will come in handy if the PureVPN VPN app does not perform as expected.

Things to Consider:

Before you begin, please make sure that:

  • You have a working internet connection
  • Mac Supported Device.
  • A Premium PureVPN account (If you haven’t bought yet click here to buy)
Find your VPN credentials for manual configuration.

  • Once logged in go to Account & Billing section.

  • On Account and Billing section click on drop-down icon

  • Click on Show/Update VPN password

  • Note down your PureVPN username and click on Eye icon to make your password visible and use it in the manual configuration.

How to connect PureVPN on Window
  • Go to https://jmp.sh/rTKXAH3 and download OpenVPN files.
  • Go to downloads and select the OpenVPN file downloaded.
  • Click Next
  • Right click the OpenVPN GUI and click import.
  • Right click OpenVPN GUI, select the imported OpenVPN server and click connect
  • Enter VPN username (purevpn0sxxx) and its respective password
  • VPN is connected. You can begin surfing with freedom and security!

How to connect PureVPN on Mac
  • Firstly, download the official Tunnelblick app and OpenVPN files:
  • OpenVPN files click here
  • Tunnelblick app click here
  • Locate the installation package in the Downloads or Recent folder on your Mac
  • To start the installation process, double-click on the Tunnelblick installation package in your Downloads or Recent folder
  • Double-click the Tunnelblick icon in the next window.
  • Confirm the action by pressing Open
  • Set your preferences for the Tunnelblick app and click Continue
  • Click I have configuration files. You downloaded these earlier
  • Click OK
  • Now open the Downloads folder on your Mac and locate the configuration files you already downloaded
  • Open the Tunnelblick app by clicking on the Tunnelblick icon in the menu bar
  • You will now need to install the configuration file. Click on the configuration file in your Downloads folder and drag it to the Configurations area in the Tunnelblick app
  • The following pop-up will show up, select Only Me
  • You may need to enter your admin credentials to perform this action. Enter your Mac admin account password and press OK
  • The configuration files that you just installed will appear in the Configurations section of the Tunnelblick app
  • To connect to a VPN location, click on the configuration file of a specific location. Then press Connect
  • Enter the PureVPN credentials and click OK. You will see a pop-up window showing the connection status in the top-right corner of your screen. It will stay yellow while connecting
  • Then it will turn green once the connection is successful. To disconnect from the VPN, click the Disconnect button

How to connect PureVPN on Android
  • Go to here and download OpenVPN connect application on your Android.
  • Go to here and download the OpenVPN file.
  • Go to downloads folder of your browser to see the status of the file being downloaded.
  • Once the download is complete, click on the downloaded file to install the application
  • You will be asked for permission to install the application (depending upon your ‘install from 3rd party preferences’ – make sure to allow the installation)
  • Click on the + icon at the top right corner of OpenVPN connect to upload the .ovpn file
  • Add profile name – if you wish to
  • Select the downloaded .ovpn file in order to upload it on OpenVPN connect application
  • Select tick from top right corner in order to convert config. file
  • Click on the recently added .ovpn file in order to connect
  • You will see a statement detailing the information requested in order to setup the VPN connection. Tap Ok and continue to proceed
  • Enter VPN username (purevpn0sxxx) and its respective password
  • VPN is connected. You can begin surfing with freedom and security!

Android manual IPsec

Go to settings on your android phone

  1. Tap on VPN
  2. Insert Name PureVPN IPsec
  3. Type: Select IPSec Xauth PSK from drop down menu
  4. Type server address:
  5. IPSec pre-shared key: 12345678
  6. Tap on Save
  7. Tap on PureVPN IPSEC
  8. Insert Username and Password provided by PureVPN
  9. Select “Save account information” and tap on Connect
  10. You should be Connected Now!!!

How to connect PureVPN on iOS

iOS manual IPsec:

  1. Go to settings > General > Network > VPN > Add VPN.
  2. Select IPSec.
  3. Insert PureVPN IPSec in description.
  4. Server:
  5. Account: Purevpn username as mentioned in account details email.
  6. Password: Purevpn password as mentioned in account details email.
  7. Secret: 12345678.8.

Then click on Done/Save at top right corner. Select VPN and Turn on VPN.
