    Split Tunneling

BitTorrent and Internet Explorer is showing my real IP address when opening the app through split tunneling. Google and FireFox are fine. What seems to be the issue?

  2. PureVPN Team says:

Thanks for reaching out. If you enable ‘Internet Kill Switch’ from settings then it should kill the apps launched via ‘Split Tunneling’

Hope this helps, let us know if you still have any questions!

  3. Joe Rat says:

Ok, and with Split Tunneling what happens if the VPN connection drops? Will PureVPN kill the App?

  4. rsm says:

How can I verify that the app I launched (Like Chrome) with split tunneling is using a VPN IP? I am using Windows 10.

    • PureVPN Team says:

Thanks for reaching out. You can open any IP location website and verify your IP, it will be different than your original one.

Hope this works, let us know if you still have any questions!

while it is nice to have split-tunneling as a feature of purevpn. it is extremely unintuitive to have to go into the app every time you want to launch an app through split tunneling. so it would be very wise for you guys to start working on making purevpn take control of any app placed into the split tunneling feature, so that once put into this feature, anytime we launch the app, from any icon on the computer it will ONLY go through split tunneling. this would make it an excellent feature to your software. right now it is very cumbersome to have to open the purevpn app every time i want to use an app through split tunneling. hope you can get this fixed.

Hi, is there any way to start an app from split tunneling upon connection to the VPN or reboot of the machine?

    • PureVPN Team says:

      Hi,

Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, there is no way to do this as yet.

Let us know if you have further questions!

  7. PureVPN Team says:

    Hi,

We are sorry for the inconvenience. Kindly tell us the version of PureVPN app you are using? and also let us know how did you verify that Internet Explorer traffic is not going through VPN?

Please answers these questions, so we may assist you accordingly.

  8. Skullo Mania says:

Internet Explorer 11 & Microsoft Edge do not work with split tunneling as in they launch fine from the split tunneling menu but are not utilizing a vpn at all and are left completely exposed. Ouch!

  9. PureVPN Team says:

Yes Jason, you are absolutely right!

Let us know if you have further questions, we will be happy to answer.

  10. PureVPN Team says:

    Hi Jason,

Thanks for reaching out. If you are using any application through Split tunneling lets say “Firefox” its traffic will go through VPN tunnel meaning it will use your VPN location and the rest of apps traffic will go through your ISP meaning it will use your actual location.

Hope this answers your query, let us know if you still have any question/confusion.

    • Jason Ryan says:

I am using Utorrent application through split tunneling.
So you are telling me that this application is using the address that is in brackets ?,eg (206.123.148.85) and not my actual address which appears next to it.
Would i be correct in saying this ?

      Cheers
      Jason Ryan

  11. Jason Ryan says:

    Just want to clarify something.
so when i go back to my main screen it will show 2 addresses ,my actual address and next to it in brackets() the vpn address that for instance Utorrent is using as this is the app i am using in pure VPN.
Because on the spilt tunneling page in Pure VPN the last sentence says,
All other app will use your actual IP (your actual location)
i took that as the location in brackets() is your actual location, this is a bit confusing.
Please let me know if i am wrong.

    Cheers
    Jason Ryan
