Now you can experience the joy of PureVPN’s split-tunneling function on your older Windows systems. Just stick to this guide and we will show you how you can get that done in as little as no time.

Things to Consider:

Before you start, please take the following into account:

  • A working internet connection.
  • A device with complete Windows support
  • An older or previous version PureVPN software.
  • A Premium PureVPN account (if you haven’t bought it yet, click here to buy)

Please follow below listed steps to enable Split Tunneling on Windows via PureVPN Old app

Right click on PureVPN Icon and select Run as Administrator OR follow below listed steps to make it permanent.

1 Right click on PureVPN Icon and click on properties

2 Click on Compatibility tab, select “Run this program as an administrator”, click “Apply” and “OK“. Double click on PureVPN App to execute

3 Click on “Yes” to execute the application

4 On Dashboard tab insert / select following details:

  • Select desired protocol or use Automatic
  • Select your desired country / purpose from drop down menu
  • Insert Username and Password provided by PureVPN.( Important Note: Your email address is not your VPN login username. )
  • To save login details check “Remember Me”

5 Click on Split Tunneling Tab:

  • Click to Enable
  • Check “Make Permanent

6 Press to Search Application Or click on “Add an Application” to manually add desired application

7 Once you get the applications list then “Connect VPN

8 Once VPN will connect then click on “Launch” to execute desired application

9 You are good to go.

Note
Close the application before launching from Split Tunnling, also check Task manager if any process is already running, kill the session. If you get your real IP then disable your Anti-virus/3rd party firewall temporarily as some of the Anti-virus/3rd party firewall blocks this feature. If it works fine then allow PureVPN app through your Anti-virus/3rd party firewall. Some 64-bit applications doesn’t work with Split Tunneling, please install 32-bit version if available.

Hello… I want to split the connection of my utorrent from PureVPN. because when i connect VPN, my torrent don’t work, almost die in terms of speed. what i want is that utorrent should bypass the vpn, not under the vpn… it should connect simply as before.
NOTE: i am using dedicated IP (Singapore)
    Area: China

    Hi Sean,

Thanks for reaching out to us. Split tunneling works on principle that whenever any application launch from PurVPN app then it is intended to go through VPN tunnel, if you launch any other application from out side PureVPN app then it means you do not want its traffic to go through VPN.

I hope you are clear, feel free to contact us if you still have any question/confusion!

  7. Sean Golden says:

Well for some odd reason I have to launch from within the split tunneling in the purevpn app 🙁 that sort of defeats the purpose it does not work at all if I launch utorrent manually or from a magnet link then my real ip leaks only works if i launch from within the app any ideas on what can be done?

  8. PureVPN Team says:

One more question. Do I need to launch the app from the split tunneling section? If i launch the app from purevpn split tunneling window, it doesnt seem to function 100% correctly. Would i be fine just opening the app while purevpn was running?

      • PureVPN Team says:

Thanks for your query. You can use both methods, they should work fine.

Let us know if you have further question!

  9. Eaglegreen says:

Hello. I am using version 5.15.0 for Windows and am having an issue. When i add an application to the Split tunneling function it seems to be working, If i turn off Split tunneling for whatever reason, and then turn it back on, the app is no longer showing. it just shows firefox, chrome and IE.

I think launch the applications every time by pressing launch in the software is not that great. Is it possible to make it default that the application launches with vpn settings when you click on the shortcut. e.g you enable split tunneling on firefox and just click on the firefox shortcut and it launches with split tunneling and vpn enabled
