How to set up PureVPN on TP-Link router

Configuring a PureVPN tunnel on your router is a great way to ensure the safety and security of all the devices in your home. This method is especially beneficial if you have devices that don’t have VPN compatibility or you want to protect all the Wi-Fi-connected devices in your home.

In this tutorial, we will show you how to set up a VPN on a TP-Link R6000 VPN Router with Hardware version TL-R6000VPN v4.0 and Firmware version 4.0.3 but first let’s see what are our requirements and recommendations.

Find your VPN credentials for manual configuration

To find your VPN credentials log into the PureVPN Member Area. Click 👉 here to visit Member Area.

  • Login to the Member Area using your PureVPN registered email address and password.

  • On Subscription tab scroll down to be able to view your VPN credentials.

  • You will be able to see and copy your VPN credentials.
  • Note down your PureVPN username and click the Eye icon to make your password visible and use it in the manual configuration.

How to set up on TP-Link R6000 router

  • To start setting up a VPN on a tp-link router you first have to connect to it. For that, you have to put in your browser the following address: http://192.168.0.1 (If this doesn't work, please consult your router's manual to find what is the Default Gateway Address). Enter your router's username and password and click Login.
  • Once logged in, go to the Network tab and select WAN option from the drop-down list.

  • Under WAN change the mode to WAN1 or WAN2 (as per your desire/ whichever WAN is activated) and set the Internet Connection to PPTP from the drop-down menu.

  • Now enter the following information.
  • Enter your PureVPN credentials. Here is how you can find your VPN credentials.
  • Connection Mode: Connect Automatically
  • Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
  • Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4
  • Secondary Connection: Dynamic IP
  • Server Address: (Enter the IP address of the VPN server shared below.

    2. Netherlands: nl1.pointtoserver.com
    3. United Kingdom: ukl1.pointtoserver.com
    4. United States: usil1.pointtoserver.com
    5. United States: ustx1.pointtoserver.com
    6. United States: usca1.pointtoserver.com
    7. United States: usfl1.pointtoserver.com
    8. United States: usny1.pointtoserver.com
    9. United States: uswdc1.pointtoserver.com
    10. Australia: au-sd1.pointtoserver.com

  • Once you have entered all the information, click the Connect button to activate the VPN connection.

How to set up PPTP on TP-Link router

  • Access your router control panel and click Network from the left panel and then click WAN.
  • In WAN Connection Type select PPTP/Russia PPTP from drop-down menu.
  • Enter your PureVPN credentials. Here is how you can find your VPN credentials.
  • Select Dynamic IP.
  • In Service IP Address field Insert your desired server address in VPN Server. (For server address, please refer to the list below.)

  • Click Basic Security and enable:
    1. SPI Firewall
    2. PPTP Passthrough
    3. L2TP Passthrough
    4. IPsec Passthrough
  • Choose whether you would like to be reconnected manually, on demand or always.
  • When you have done the above, click Save.

How to set up PPTP on TP-Link Archer router

  • To start setting up a VPN on a tp-link router you first have to connect to it.   • Once you are logged in then select the Advanced option.
  • Under Advanced select Network option, then go to Internet tab.
  • Choose PPTP from Connection Type drop-down menu.

  • MTU Size: 1420
  • Connection Mode: Manually
  • Max Idle Time: 0
  • Once you have entered all the information, Click on Connect button to activate the VPN connection.
  • PureVPN is successfully connected now on your TP-Link Archer series router.

  • Click SAVE.
  • ADD the Device by clicking on the ADD button.
  • Click Connect.

  • Access your Router Panel and click VPN Client on the Left panel.
  • From VPN Section, click VPN Client then click Add profile.

How to set up OpenVPN on TP-Link AX1800 WiFi 6 router

This article provides step-by-step guidance to set up PureVPN's OpenVPN configuration on a TP-Link AX 1800 Wi-Fi 6 VPN router.

  • Log in to the router control panel, under the Advanced section select the VPN Client tab. Make sure that VPN Client option is Enable. Then click + Add button to create a VPN profile.
