How to Setup PureVPN on Mikrotik Router

MikroTik routers provide an ingenious solution to internet users at home, allowing them to setup several small access-points instead of one big one. Because Internet security is a problem with any Wi-Fi device out there, a VPN is always recommended. You can learn how to setup PureVPN on Mikrotik Router from here.

 

Things to Consider:

Before you begin, please make sure that:

  • You have a working internet connection
  • VPN Supported Router.
  • Own a premium PureVPN account (If you do not already own one, you can buy a subscription from here)

 

How to setup PPTP on Mikrotik Router

1. Login in to your router. Click PPP and select PPTP client. 

2. Enter PureVPN-PPTP in the Name section. 

3. Click Dial Out and enter the server address you want to connect with. (List of server addresses is available here Now, enter your PureVPN username and password in User and Password
fields respectively. Check-mark the dial on demand and add default route options. Click on Apply/OK to save your settings. 

Note: If you face any problem in connecting VPN then uncheck ‘Add Default Route’

4. Now click IP from main menu and select Firewall.

5. Now choose NAT tab and add a new NAT rule. choose scrnat from chain and PureVPN-PPTP from Out Interface List. 

6. Now, click the Action tab and select masquerade from the drop-down list. Click Apply/OK to save the settings.

7. Now select Mangle tab and add a new rule.  In General tab, choose prerouting from the chain list. Then enter the IP address you wish to connect with or the range of the IP addresses you want to route through VPN tunnel in Src Address field.

8. Now choose Action tab and choose mark routing from the Action list. Type PureVPN-PPTP in New Routing Mark field and save the settings. 

9. Click IP from main menu and choose Routes. 

10. Now click the ‘+’ icon to add a new route. Enter 0.0.0.0/0 in the Dst. Address, choose PureVPN-PPTP from Gateway, and then choose PureVPN-PPTP from the Routing Mark. Click Apply/OK to save your settings.

11. Now click IP from main menu and select DNS. 

12. Check-mark Allow Remote Requests, and save the settings. 

13. Click IP from main menu and select DHCP Server. 

14. Now enter 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220 in DNS Servers fields. Click Apply/OK to save your settings. 

15. Now click Interfaces from the main menu, open PureVPN-PPTP interface, and enable the connection from the status tab. 

16. You are connected to your VPN now. You can check your IP and location from www.ip2location.com

How to setup SSTP on Mikrotik Router

1. Log in to your router. Click on PPP from the main menu and select SSTP client. 

2. Enter your PureVPN-SSTP in the Name field. 

3. Now click Dial Out, and enter the server address you want to connect with. (List of server addresses is available at https://support.purevpn.com/vpn-servers.) Enter your PureVPN username and password in the User and Password fields respectively. Check-mark the dial on demand and add default route boxes. Click Apply/OK to save your settings. 

4. Now click IP from the main menu and select Firewall. 

5. Choose NAT and add a new NAT rule. Choose scrnat from chain list and PureVPN-SSTP from Out Interface list.

6. Now choose Action tab and choose masquerade from Action drop-down menu. 

7. Click Apply/ OK to save your settings.

8. Now select Mangle tab and add a new rule.

9. In General tab, select prerouting from Chain list. In Src Address, enter your IP address or the range of the IP addresses you want to route through VPN tunnel.

10. Choose Action tab. Now choose mark routing from the Action list. Type PureVPN-SSTP in New Routing Mark. Click Apply/OK to save your settings. 

11. Click IP from the main menu and select Routes. 

12. Click the ‘+’ icon to add a new route.

13. Enter 0.0.0.0/0 in the Dst. Address field. choose PureVPN-SSTP from Gateway, and then choose PureVPN-SSTP from the Routing Mark. 

14. Click Apply/ OK to save your settings.

15. Click on IP from the main menu and choose DNS. 

16. Check-mark Allow Remote Requests, and save your settings. 

17. Click n IP and select DHCP Server. 

18. Enter 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220 in DNS Servers fields and save your settings. 

19. Now click Interfaces from main menu and open PureVPN-SSTP interface. Then enable your connection. 

20. You are now connected to the VPN. You can check your IP address and location on www.ip2location.com
